今年年初，大陆微博有贴文提到芮成钢，称芮成钢仍在监狱里服刑，因文化水平高，负责其他犯人的“思想教育”工作。
同时芮成钢狱中服刑照片流出，与入狱前判若两人。照片可见，芮成钢长发福不少，戴着眼镜被剔光头的芮一脸憔悴落魄。
公开资料显示，芮成钢出生于1977年，外交学院国际经济与贸易专业毕业后，即进入中共中央英语新闻频道《财经中国》任主播，之后成为央视财经频道《经济信息联播》、《环球财经连线》节目主持人。
2014年7月11日，芮成钢被吉林省检察院带走调查，自此停止一切主持活动。
2016年9月，外媒引述央视内部人士消息，指芮成钢案已秘密审判，因他涉嫌泄密问题，且证据出现漏洞，在看守所享有特权大耍明星派头后，遭高层下令追查。
2017年2月6日，网传一张吉林省蛟河市法院执行通知书，通知吉林省看守所，罪犯芮成钢已判处刑罚，判决已发生法律效力，请按通知送交劳改单位执行。
通知书显示，芮被判刑6年，罪名为“受贿行贿”，起刑日期为2015年5月18日，刑满日期为2020年12月11日。同时，芮成钢的家庭住址和服刑照片也被曝光。
