Trump Administration Announces Sanctions Against Chinese Communist Party Officials Persecuting Falun Gong

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announces sanctions against Chinese Communist Party officials who persecute Falun Gong, following sanctions against 14 senior officials at the deputy state level. Huang Yuanxiong, chief of the Wucun police station in Xiamen, was sanctioned for the first time for his involvement in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

On December 10, International Human Rights Day, the U.S. Department of State announced sanctions against 17 current and former foreign government officials for their involvement in serious human rights abuses, including Huang Yuanxiong, chief of the Wucun police station of the Xiamen Public Security Bureau, who persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in China. They and their immediate family members will be held accountable.

The proclamation issued by the State Department said, "Promoting and advancing respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms remains a top priority for the United States. On this Human Rights Day, the United States is proud to reaffirm our commitment to use all appropriate tools and authorities to draw attention to human rights violations and abuses, and to advance accountability for those responsible for those violations and abuses; wherever and whenever they occur."

In a written statement, Secretary Pompeo noted that Huang Yuanxiong, an official at Wucun Police Station of the Xiamen Public Security Bureau in China, has committed serious violations of the religious freedom of Falun Gong practitioners and has personally participated in the detention and interrogation of Falun Gong practitioners. According to U.S. regulations, Huang Yuanxiong and his spouse will not be allowed to enter the United States.

Huang Yuanxiong served as an instructor for the second police unit at Wucun Police Station of Xiamen Public Security Bureau's Siming Branch.

Pompeo said, "The world cannot stand idly by while the Chinese (Communist) government commits horrific and systematic abuses against the Chinese people, including violations of the internationally recognized right to freedom of thought, conscience, religion or belief."

Some commentators believe that this is a public announcement by the U.S. government to sanction Chinese Communist Party officials who persecute Falun Gong, which is what the CCP fears most, and is a powerful deterrent of extraordinary significance to Chinese Communist Party officials involved in the persecution of Falun Gong. All CCP officials involved in the persecution of Falun Gong may face the same fate in the future.

Pompeo is also the first U.S. Secretary of State to issue a formal statement condemning the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong. On July 20, Pompeo issued a statement on the 21st anniversary of the Chinese government's crackdown on Falun Gong, condemning the CCP's "evil trampling and mistreatment" of Falun Gong practitioners and calling on the CCP to stop the long-running crackdown.

Pompeo said, "The persecution of Falun Gong practitioners has been going on for 21 years, which is far too long, and it must stop."

On the afternoon of December 3, Pompeo met for the first time at the State Department with representatives of several groups that have been severely persecuted by the CCP, and Falun Gong's representative in Washington, D.C., Lin Xiaoxu, also attended the meeting.

Lin Xiaoxu said that Pompeo is taking the issue of live organ harvesting by the CCP very seriously and that Assistant Secretary Destro, who is also working on the matter, "may have a more shocking message from them soon."

Former Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin initiated the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, and the Communist Party's political and legal systems, public prosecution and judicial agencies participated in the persecution from the top down. "The International Organization for the Pursuit of Falun Gong (IOFP) has documented the organizations and individuals involved in the persecution and has warned that they will be pursued to the end, regardless of the end of the world or the length of time.

Now that the Chinese Communist Party has been persecuting Falun Gong practitioners for 21 years, Falun Gong practitioners at home and abroad continue to speak the truth about their persecution in a peaceful and rational manner to people around the world, and more and more national dignitaries are expressing their solidarity with Falun Gong against the persecution.

On December 10, International Human Rights Day, the Falun Dafa Information Center in New York issued a press release stating that 897 politicians from 35 countries and regions, across party lines, have joined a joint campaign to condemn the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong and call on the CCP to immediately stop the persecution.

On December 7, the Trump administration imposed sanctions on 14 vice chairmen of the Communist Party of China (CPC) National People's Congress (NPC), after 14 senior Chinese and Hong Kong officials, including Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam, had been sanctioned.

The Trump administration has clearly announced that it will join with its allies to help the Chinese people overthrow the Communist tyranny, and it is expected that the U.S. sanctions against top Chinese officials will continue to increase.
