The U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Beijing recently announced on their Chinese website that the U.S. sanctioned Chinese Communist Party police officers who persecute Falun Gong, which has had a significant impact within China. Not only did it deter Chinese Communist Party officials who persecute Falun Gong practitioners, but it also made the Chinese public aware of the situation in the first place.
On December 10, International Human Rights Day, U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo issued a statement announcing sanctions against 17 foreign officials involved in serious human rights violations. These included Huang Yuanxiong, a Chinese Communist Party police officer who persecuted Falun Gong.
The State Department's announcement said, "The world cannot stand idly by while the Chinese (Communist) government commits horrific and systematic abuses against the Chinese people, including violations of the internationally recognized right to freedom of thought, conscience, religion or belief."
On the same day, the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Beijing, also posted the news on its Chinese website. The statement reads, "Huang Yuanxiong is an instructor at Wucun Police Station of the Xiamen Public Security Bureau in Fujian Province, China. Huang Yuanxiong was involved in serious human rights violations in Xiamen, namely particularly serious violations of religious freedom: he detained and interrogated Falun Gong practitioners simply for adhering to their beliefs."
The statement noted that Huang Yuanxiong's involvement in serious human rights abuses led to his being listed for U.S. sanctions, along with Huang's spouse, who was placed on visa restrictions.

On December 22, the U.S. State Department posted another consecutive tweet condemning the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Xinjiang Uighurs, Falun Gong, Christians and other religious faith groups.
Pompeo said, "The Chinese Communist Party has declared war on religious beliefs, persecuting Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, and Falun Gong practitioners. No one has been spared under the Chinese Communist Party."
Bill Bledsoe, vice chairman of the South Carolina Constitution Party and a candidate for the U.S. Senate, said that the Chinese Communist Party has declared a war on religious beliefs. Bill Bledsoe (D-SC) told the Epoch Times that the U.S. sanctions Chinese Communist Party officials who persecute Falun Gong, "It's the right thing to do."
"We (the U.S.) believe in religious freedom, and we believe that no one should be persecuted." Bledsoe said, "The Chinese Communist Party is a gangster and a criminal." "I believe that Trump is the first president to stand up against the Chinese Communist Party and the Deep State."
In a feature article, the English-language Epoch Times said, "With the sanctions against Huang Yuanxiong, the Trump administration has taken another important step forward." "By boycotting the Chinese Communist Party and condemning its persecution of Falun Gong, the United States has shown strength and given hope to the world."
Levi Browde, executive director of the Falun Dafa Information Center, also applauded the U.S. government's move to sanction Chinese Communist Party officials.
"Tens of millions of people practice Falun Gong in China, and many are suffering from ongoing abuse by Chinese Communist Party officials. We will continue to document these vicious acts of human rights persecution so that more officials can be held accountable." He said.
