Senator Tuberville decided to challenge the Electoral College, but did not want to make it public

A conservative media outlet recently quoted sources as confirming that Alabama Senator-elect Tommy Tuberville is expected to challenge the Electoral College vote in a joint session of Congress on Jan. 6. But he also stressed that he does not intend to announce this publicly.
The U.S. news site National File last week quoted sources in direct contact with President Trump's legal team as confirming that Tuberville has made a final decision on the issue and will join Rep. Mo Brooks (R) on Jan. 6 in his plan to challenge the Electoral College.
The sources said it was likely that Turberville did not intend to publicly confirm the challenge for fear of retaliation from the Republican leadership or the media.
The report said President Trump has had a phone conversation with Turbeville and expressed optimism about the Jan. 6 challenge.
Previously, Tuberville had also publicly told the media that he would join Brooks' plan to challenge the Electoral College, but that a final decision might not be made until after Christmas. He also called on the Senate to revive the challenge.
After that, Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R) announced that he would also join Brooks' challenge in the House and said he had spoken with Turberville and confirmed that the latter would join the challenge in the Senate.
On Jan. 6, Congress will hold a joint session to certify the results of the Electoral College vote for the 2020 presidential election. According to the rules, a challenge to any state's Electoral College vote at that meeting would require at least one Senator and one Representative to co-sponsor it in writing. If the challenge is successful, the state's electoral votes will be invalidated.
Several House members have already indicated that they will participate in challenging the Electoral College vote results in the six swing states. Among the senators, in addition to Tuberville, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is also willing to participate in the challenge.
Separately, Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R) told Gateway Pundit this Monday (Dec. 28) about challenging the Electoral College in Congress on Jan. 6 "I've made it very clear that nothing is impossible." She also stressed that she must first ensure that she wins the Jan. 5 runoff for Joe State Senate, and then "we will continue to fight for this president.
Leffler's rival in the Senate runoff is the far-left Raphael Warnock. During a debate on Dec. 6, Lefler had asked Warnock in public, "Will socialism and Marxism be abandoned for the sake of all Georgians?" Warnock did not answer directly.
