Sidney Powell, a leading U.S. attorney, said the Nov. 3 U.S. election controversy involving foreign interference was "enough to trigger" President Trump's executive order on foreign interference sanctions issued in 2018.
According to the executive order signed by Trump on Sept. 12, 2018, within 45 days of the U.S. election, the Director of National Intelligence shall consult with the heads of any other appropriate executive departments and agencies (agencies) to evaluate any foreign government, or agent of a foreign government, or any individual acting on behalf of an agent of a foreign government regarding the intent or purpose of interference in the U.S. election.
Powell said the executive order could give President Trump a variety of powers, including everything from seizing assets to freezing equipment and even requiring the seizure of voting machines.
"Under emergency powers, he (the president) could even appoint a special prosecutor to investigate this, and that's exactly what needs to happen." Powell said. "Every machine in the country, every voting machine, should be seized right now."
"Frankly, there's enough criminal, probable cause here for anyone who is willing to settle legal (lawsuits) and facts based on the truth rather than politics, corporate greed or global wealth to justify it."
In the past month, people including Maricopa County Republican Party Chairwoman Linda Brickman and Powell have alleged that Dominion Voting Systems' machines recounted Trump's votes in Biden's name. Brickman told lawmakers at a Nov. 30 hearing in Arizona that she witnessed votes cast for Trump at a Maricopa County tally center being re-counted for Biden "more than once" after being placed in a Dominion voting machine.
Powell noted that Director of National Intelligence (Director) John Ratcliffe has only a few days left to submit a report to the president under a September 2018 executive order. It is unclear when, or if, Ratcliffe will release the report, as so far he has not publicly said he will submit it.
There has been little mention of the executive order since Trump signed it.
Powell said that if Ratcliffe gives the executive order, "it will blow the minds of every citizen in this country who is willing to look at the truth and the facts." "Because never, never in the history of this country have we ever witnessed anything like this. We must stop this (election theft) now or there will never be free and fair elections (in America)."
The executive order also states that the heads of the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security and any other appropriate agency shall submit a report assessing the U.S. election within 45 days of receiving the assessment and information.
